The Shoot

One of our goals for 2024 was to start giving back to charities that resonate with us. Consequently, BRICKOVEN approached The Proud Trust charity to collaborate on a promotional pride video to accompany their 2024 pride campaign, ‘Time to be Proud’. The Proud Trust envisioned a video rich with compelling interviews, interspersed with B-roll footage of their warm and inviting support and teaching facility located on Oxford Road, Manchester.

With the building offering numerous beautiful areas for filming, we were spoiled for choice regarding shoot locations. As evident from the stills, we meticulously lit the interviews to perfection, emphasizing the warmth and highlighting The Proud Trust’s brand colours.

Overall, we recorded approximately three hours of interview content, which we then condensed into a short film. This task was challenging due to the abundance of pivotal material that we were reluctant to cut. However, rest assured, a longer documentary-style video is in the works that will cover more than what will be released by their deadline. The shoot was an emotional journey, filled with tears, cheers, and lots of laughter, and we couldn’t be more pleased with the outcome.

Who Are The Proud Trust?

Proud Trust open their new building at 49-51 Sidney St, Manchester. The Proud Trust is an LGBT+ organisation that supports LGBT+ young people

‘The Proud Trust is an LGBT+ youth charity empowering young people to be proud of who they are. The Proud Trust delivers youth work and one-to-one support across Greater Manchester. The charity also runs a national training and inclusion programme for schools, Proud Connections Live Chat, and manages Manchester’s LGBT+ Centre, The Proud Place. We can trace our roots back to the 1970’s and the Gay Youth Group that met in Manchester, initially in Waterloo Place, and from 1988, the Sidney Street purpose-built Gay Centre.

In the years since, we have continued to put LGBT+ young people at the forefront of our work. We support young people across the north-west and beyond through youth groups, mentoring programmes and more. We work with and support adults in trusted positions, including schools and other children’s services, helping them make spaces more LGBT+ inclusive as well as improving confidence in tackling discrimination and celebrating diversity.’
