It’s safe to say Brickoven are back, alive and well after our lockdown. Our first commercial shoot back was a sweltering day of filming for a local business called My Open Water Swim.

My Open Water Swim is a company that provides safe and monitored swimming events at Pennington Flash and has just expanded to the Lake District (More to be announced on that soon).

Brickoven was asked to come up with an idea for a promotional video for the swimming event. We started by researching the community around open water swimming, eventually coming up with the idea of following a small cast experiencing the open swim, combined with footage captured at one of the swimming events. By a stroke of luck, we scheduled the filming on the hottest day of the year so far. This allowed us to capture tonnes of gorgeous summery vibes, which gave way to a classic mid-summer golden hour.

When it came to the edit, sharp and punchy is what we felt would work best. Our chosen piece of music influenced the pace of the edit. Once the tempo was set, we were able to pick out the most captivating footage of the swim, and our small narrative rippled nicely through it all.

Overall we’re extremely happy with the footage and can’t wait to work with the team again on their next video. Thanks again to the cast, crew and My Open Water Swim.
